Causes of Fistula

Causes of Fistula includes the following

Diseases: Inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are the main causes of anorectal, enteroenteral, and enterocutaneous fistulas. A person suffering from stage-3 hidradenitis suppurativa will also develop fistulas.

Fistula

Medical Treatment: Fistula may develop from some of the medical treatment such as gallbladder surgery may lead to biliary fistula. Radiation therapy may lead to vesicovaginal fistula and also the arteriovenous fistula.

Fistula

Trauma: Head trauma will cause the perilymph fistulas, and the trauma at the other parts of the body may cause arteriovenous fistulas. Obstructed labor can lead to vesicovaginal and rectovaginal fistulas. An obstetric fistula is caused because of the lack of blood supply to the tissues of the vagina and the bladder during prolonged obstructed labor. The tissues die and a hole forms through which urine and/or feces pass uncontrollably.
